An irresistible game that inspires us to see work differently

WeMake's mission is to create and inspire an innovative approach to work for people with autism, with everything from the environment to the processes to the opportunities built first and foremost around their unique needs.

Unlike the type of traditional work environments that ask individuals with autism to adjust to them, WeMake is building the world’s first workspace centered around autistic employees’ specific needs and abilities. In short, we created we make to not only answer the question of what’s next — but to introduce a model for the future that takes inclusive work environments to the next level.

Solution

Our goal was to generate empathy through a game experience that is simple and familiar to users. Each level will get progressively more difficult with the placement of random variables throughout the game that simulate symptoms of sensory sensitivity common in ASD.

The game would be delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for the following reasons:

Progressive - Works for every user, regardless of browser choice because it's built with progressive enhancement as a core tenet.
Responsive - Fits any form factor: desktop, mobile, tablet, or whatever is next.

Connectivity independent - Enhanced with service workers to work offline or on low-quality networks. They can work on slow networks such as 2G, without any degradation to the experience of the user.

Fresh - Always up-to-date thanks to the service worker update process.
Installable - Allows users to add apps they find most useful to their home screen without the hassle of an app store.

Linkable - Easily share the application via URL, does not require complex installation.

Maintainable - No hassle of updates: All the updates to the app go live instantly. There is no need to push updates to every user. And its accessible via a URL as well
